American Express Meetings & Events, a Division of American Express Global Business Travel, Launches New Ground Transportation Platform

New solution delivers seamless and compliant ground transportation for events, booked directly by American Express Meetings & Events to save all meetings stakeholders time and money while minimizing errors

December 11, 2019

American Express Meetings & Events (M&E), a division of American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), today announced Meetings Ground Transportation, a ground transportation platform using exclusive technology from solutions provider miMeetings, to efficiently manage flight manifests and evolving group transportation needs for meetings and events. The first service of its kind, Meetings Ground Transportation will allow American Express Meetings & Events to manage ground transportation on behalf of its clients, delivering safe and reliable transportation that promotes compliance with clients’ internal corporate travel and meeting policies.

Through its patented technology, Meetings Ground Transportation minimizes flight manifest errors, intelligently groups attendees to eliminate unnecessary rides, and sources from multiple M&E ground suppliers. As a result of these efficiencies, meeting planners can expect to save 22% to 30% of total ground costs and an average of 15 hours in time spent per event.[1] The platform also supports clients’ duty of care and data security responsibilities as part of The Meetings MarketplaceTM, so planners can rest assured that all suppliers have been vetted and key financial and security needs have been considered.

“Ground transportation has long been a pain point for all meetings stakeholders. Meeting planners have struggled to maintain visibility, organization and cost; an attendee’s first impression of an event can easily be tarnished when ground delays or issues occur as a result of mismanagement,” said Linda McNairy, Vice President of Americas at American Express Meetings & Events. “With the right solutions and partners, it is possible to make ground transportation a strategic component of any meetings program. Meetings Ground Transportation makes management of ground transportation simple and easy, which has not been possible to this extent previously.”

Through the platform, the American Express Meetings & Events planning team also coordinates with suppliers in real time and provides 24/7 support for flight changes and revised ground confirmations, including adding rides, and communicating meeting point instructions to attendees. The solution also enables detailed reporting, standardized invoicing and a straightforward payment process to further support meeting planner’s needs.

Meetings Ground Transportation is currently available for all American Express Meetings & Events clients. To learn more, please reach out to your account manager or contact our sales team at
